LAMBDA DEFENSIVE SHOTGUN COURSE
Course Description
This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and discipline necessary for home defense using a shotgun. The Defensive Shotgun course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience. The course consists of four (4) hours of classroom instruction followed by range time learning to shoot a shotgun safely and accurately.
Course Objective
The objective of this course is to familiarize students with the safe handling and shooting of a pump action shotgun in defensive situations.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course, students should have a comprehensive understanding of the following
- The four (4) basic gun safety rules
- Shotgun parts & operation
- Shotgun shell components & ammunition selection
- Shotgun selection & storage
- Shooting range safety
- Shooting fundamentals (stance, grip, gun mount)
- Malfunction clearance
- Shotgun inspection & maintenance
- Target acquisition
- Muzzle awareness/minimizing signature
Students who successfully pass the course will receive a Defensive Shotgun Course completion certificate.

Additional Information
Full payment is required to reserve a seat in the class, and completion of the standard Student Questionnaire upon enrollment is also mandatory. Range fees are set by the firing range, but are included in the course price. Range attire should be comfortable but not loose-fitting clothing. Students are responsible for bringing the following with them to the range:
- 12 gauge, pump action shotgun with sling
- 150 rounds of shotgun shell ammunition (heavy field load)
- Hearing & eye protection
- Snacks/food/water
