LAMBDA BASIC RIFLE COURSE

Course Description

This course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for rifle target shooting. The Basic Rifle course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience, and is a two (2) day course consisting of an eight (8) hour classroom portion, followed by a range day.

Course Objectives

The objective of this course is to familiarize students with the safe handling, storage, cleaning and shooting of rifles. Upon completion of this course, students should be comfortable and confident in handing and shooting a rifle.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, students should have a comprehensive understanding of the following

• The four (4) basic gun safety rules
• Proper operation of a rifle
• Ammunition knowledge and selection
• Rifle selection & storage
• Shooting fundamentals (stance, grip, trigger control)
• Malfunction clearance
• Rifle inspection & maintenance
• Basic marksmanship
• Shooting range safety

Students who successfully pass the course will receive an Basic Rifle Course completion certificate.

Additional Information

Full payment is required to reserve a seat in the class, and completion of the standard Student Questionnaire upon enrollment is also mandatory. Range fees are set by the firing range, but are included in the course price. Range attire should be comfortable but not loose-fitting clothing. Students are responsible for bringing the following with them to the range:

• Rifle
• 300 rounds of rifle ammunition
• Sling (if short barreled rifle) or bipod/tripod (if long barreled rifle)
• Riflescope or optic
• Hearing & eye protection
• Snacks/food/water
